The Tekke at Blagaj
The Buna comes out of the base of a two-hundred-metre cliff at full size, already a river, and a white Ottoman dervish house sits on the rock beside it. It has been there since the fifteenth century. Go early or late: the courtyard is small, the coaches from Mostar are not, and the water is cold enough to feel from the terrace.

Kravice Falls
A hundred-metre arc of falls drops into a pool you are allowed to swim in, which is rarer than it sounds. Spring is when the water is loudest and coldest; by August the flow is thinner and the pool is full of people. Most tours stop for an hour, which is enough for the swim and not much else.

Rafting out of Konjic
Konjic is a stone bridge town an hour south of Sarajevo where the Neretva is still cold and green and moving fast. Rafts run the canyon below the town from spring meltwater into September. The same town holds Tito's nuclear bunker, dug into the hillside and open to visitors, which makes for an odd but excellent day.
